  • This role would suit an ICU or Anaesthetics or ED Registrar or BPT trainee. Must be able to resuscitate, have ALS and intubation skills and ideally CPAP and BIPAP skills.
  • There is very high likelihood of ongoing shifts generally at least several Friday and Saturday nights per month.
  • Rate is $160 per hour + which is negotiable dependant on qualifications and experience.

Details

A Metropolitan NSW hospital requires a Registrar/PHO in Intensive Care Medicine, as below:

The dates are:
28th , 30th and 31st August, 13th, 14th, 16th and 17th September – all night shift 1900-0730.
24th and 25th August – day shift – 0700-1930.

There is very high likelihood of ongoing shifts generally at least several Friday and Saturday nights per month.

Rate is from $160 per hour + which is negotiable dependent on qualifications and experience.
No travel or accommodation but there is an overnight room on site if required.

Duties include:
• Be the Team Leader for MET calls
• Assess and admit all new medical patients
• Review all new surgical admissions to the ward
• Institute immediate treatment and manage ongoing care as appropriate
• Support the junior medical officers
• Lead and conduct a formal handover round that includes attendance to each ward of the Hospital and the Emergency Department
• Report any serious incidents to the After Hours Nurse Manager or to the Area Executive on call
• Ability to work without direct supervision and exercise independent judgement, initiative and problem solving in relation to clinical decision- making
• Must be registered with AHPRA
• At least 5 years full-time post graduate experience (PGY5+) with more than 12 months full time (or part time equivalent) critical care experience at Senior Resident Medical Officer or Registrar level. Critical care experience should ideally include terms in Anaesthetics, ED and ICU
• Advanced life support skills including ALS, APLS
• Skills in resusc, intubation, CPAP, BIPAP, central and IV lines.

This is for adults only patients – there is a Paediatrician CMO or Registrar on the same time. There is a Junior on site, ED staff and Anaesthetics Registrars and Consultants on call.
