The Position

Skilled Medical has an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist or medical officer with an interest in addiction medicine, to join the multidisciplinary specialist Addiction Service on a full time or part time basis commencing ASAP.  The main focus of this role is to provide Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST) for patients across the district.  Previous experience working in addiction medicine would be an advantage but not essential as there are experienced clinicians who will provide support. 

Health Service

Offering specialist services for individuals aged between 18 to 65 years with severe and complex mental health needs in a catchment area of 141,600. This health service provides assessment and treatment of community or outpatient mental health.

A vibrant city located near spectacular beaches and wilderness and an easy drive to Auckland. There is outstanding access to outdoor recreational opportunities and a wide-range of schooling options including secondary and tertiary. This location is ideal for doctors seeking an outdoor lifestyle and have the option of either a bush or beach setting.

Essential Criteria

Doctors must hold fellowship with RANZCP. GP's with experience and specialty qualifications in addiction medicine will also be considered.
