The Position
Skilled Medical has an exciting career opportunity for a Regional Director of Medical Services (RDMS) to commence a 5 year fixed-term full-time position in a coastal and regional Western Australian hospital commencing ASAP.
This position is a fantastic opportunity for a Medical Director looking to build upon administration and management experience in a large regional setting.
Obligations include providing high level clinical and strategic leadership, management and governance within the region, professional leadership and governance for all medical practitioners with a focus on medical workforce, patient safety and quality improvement, clinical service planning, medical education and clinical research.
Health Service
Large public hospital within Western Australia Country Health Service. This modern state-of-the-art facility provides a comprehensive range of medical, specialist, allied health and community services to a catchment area of approximately 500,000 people.
The Location
This historic town is set against rugged granite coastline and is ideal for doctors seeking an outdoor coastal lifestyle with opportunities for whale watching, fishing, surfing, swimming, diving, hiking, four-wheel-driving, camping.
Essential Criteria
Doctors must hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian of Medical Administrators (RACMA) or hold another equivalent management qualification or how evidence of progression towards a management qualification (including FRACMA, MBA, MHA, FCHSM). Experience in rural and remote medical practice and / or management and evidence of participating in or leading quality improvement initiatives or health management research is required.
Other requirements include:
* Recognised clinical experience and/or postgraduate qualifications commensurate with clinical duties and medical administration role.
* Demonstrated excellent strategic management and project management skills including the ability to plan, prioritise, make decisions, meet deadlines and manage resources.
* Demonstrated contemporary knowledge of professional issues and trends in the medical profession, with a particular focus on indigenous, rural and remote service delivery.
* Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of health policy and programs.
* Demonstrated high level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
* Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance within healthcare, including credentialing, scope of practice, clinical indicator management and safety and quality programs.
* Current C or C-A Class driver's licence.
* Current knowledge of legislative obligations including Equal Employment Opportunity, Disability Services, Occupational Safety and Health and Freedom of Information and how these impact on employment and service delivery.
The Package
The annual remuneration is between $354,487 - $451,677 p.a. (MP Year 1-9) and is inclusive of base salary, 9.5% superannuation and applicable allowances.
