The Position

Skilled Medical has an exciting career opportunity for a Medical Officer in Psychiatry to work within the Alcohol & Other Drug Service in the North Island of New Zealand.

Doctors with an interest in supporting the development of services to best meet the needs of clients who have co existing substance misuse and mental health disorders are encouraged to apply.

Health Service

This large base hospital offers a comprehensive range of specialist and medical services and provides one of the largest trauma centres in New Zealand.

The Location

With a local population of 80,000, this DHB provides services to a catchment area of approximately 160,000. It is close to the North Island ski fields and wine regions, and reasonable driving distance from Wellington.

Essential Criteria

Doctors must be registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand to enable practice within the alcohol and other drug area and must hold a higher qualification appropriate to the specialty, which is recognised by the Medical Council of New Zealand.
