The Position
Skilled Medical has an exciting career opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist (FRACP) in Child and Adult Psychiatry to commence a permanent position in the North Island of New Zealand.
Health Service
This large base hospital offers a comprehensive range of specialist and medical services and provides one of the largest trauma centres in New Zealand.
The psychiatry department provides comprehensive community-based mental health services including: extended hours crisis intervention service, community-based mental health care, adult acute inpatient services (including intensive mental health care), day activity/rehabilitation programmes, general hospital liaison psychiatry, outreach clinics, child, adolescent and family mental health services, old age psychiatry services, alcohol and drug services, specialist Maori mental health services, early intervention services and intensive community rehabilitation services.
The Location
With a local population of 80,000, this DHB provides services to a catchment area of approximately 160,000. It is close to the North Island ski fields and wine regions, and reasonable driving distance from Wellington.
Essential Criteria
Candidates must hold or be eligible for Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZP). This position is also open to overseas psychiatrists, including UK, US and Canadian psychiatrists who hold relevant specialist qualifications and are eligible for registration in New Zealand via the special purpose locum tenens pathway.
