Skilled Medical are seeking applications for Advanced Trainees in Renal Medicine to commence a 12 month fixed term position (possibility of further extension for 1 year) in a metropolitan hospital in New Zealand's North Island from January 2021.
The successful candidate will work with a team of seven renal physicians, another advanced trainee, 3 basic trainees and two Senior House Officers. The medical staff function within a multidisciplinary team which provides treatment for 800 patients on renal replacement therapy and supports patients with a full care continuum in renal medicine including:
- Diagnosis and management of acute and chronic renal disease
- Renal interventional procedures
- Pre and post transplantation management (kidney transplants are done at Auckland Hospital)
- Management of end stage renal failure with haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and supportive care.
This teaching hospital and major tertiary referral centre provides specialist and emergency healthcare a catchment area of 900,000 people. It is the only major District Health Board to offer all surgical specialties on one campus and is the major trauma hospital for the region.

Doctors must hold General AHPRA registration or full or temporary registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, and be eligible for advanced training withing the RACP nephrology training program.
