The Position
Skilled Medical has an exciting career opportunity for a Consultant or Senior Medical Officer in Emergency Medicine to commence a permanent position in New Zealand's North Island.
Obligations include providing high-quality emergency medical care to patients, involvement in the development, implementation and review of policies, procedures, and standards (in accordance with the general standards of the DHB and appropriate branch advisory bodies of the MCNZ), participation in after-hour roster, providing consultative services as required to colleagues, assist in developing undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes in liaison with the clinical school and participation in Staff Development Programmes.
Health Service
A secondary 350 bed hospital providing medical, surgical, paediatrics, obstetrics, gynaecology, mental health and a range of clinical support and allied health services. The hospital has recently undergone an extension to include a new wing including theatres, outpatients department and maternity unit, of exceptionally high quality.
The department admits approximately 24,000 patients annually and is comprised of 17 beds which include two resus bays.

A vibrant city located near spectacular beaches and wilderness and an easy drive to Auckland. There is outstanding access to outdoor recreational opportunities and a wide-range of schooling options including secondary and tertiary. This location is ideal for doctors seeking an outdoor lifestyle and have the option of either a bush or beach setting.
Essential Criteria
Doctors must hold Fellowship with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) or be eligible for vocational registration in Emergency Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand. British or USA trained consultants may be able to apply for registration via the Locum Tenens Registration pathway.
