The Position
Skilled Medical has an exciting career opportunity a Consultant in General Surgery to commence a 12 month fixed term position in New Zealand's West Coast from August 2021.
Obligations include on-call (1:6), teaching advanced trainee registrars and medical students, supervision of house surgeons and participation in audit.
Candidates with experience in endoscopy are encouraged to apply.
Health Service
A large 240 bed hospital offering multidisciplinary services to a population of approximately 120, 000 people. The General Surgery team is made up of 6 General Surgeons (with interests in colorectal, upper GI and breast and endocrine surgery) with a mix of junior and senior trainees with non-SET training Registrars. There are 6 House Officers and 1 Senior House Officer.
The Location
Located on New Zealand’s west coast, this region is a ideal for outdoor enthusiasts offering rugged and wild coastline, rivers, native forests and mountains.
Essential Criteria
Doctors must hold Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) or eligible to hold vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council. British, Canadian, USA or South-African surgeons may be eligible for special purpose locum tenens specialist pathway.
