The Position

Skilled Medical has an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Medical Officer/Rural Generalist to commence a permanent full-time position in New Zealand's west coast, north island.  Joining a department of ten other Consultant Physicians (who have sub-specialty interests) obligations include taking part in an acute General Medicine on-call roster as a Hospitalist with Registrar and House Officer support.

Health Service

A large 240 bed hospital offering multidisciplinary services to a population of approximately 120, 000 people.

This facility provides a 9 bed ED and 15 bed inpatient ward. The Emergency Department provides a 24 hour service and sees approximately 15,000 patients annually.  There is a 4 bed maternity unit and a large number of specialist outpatient clinics.

The Location

Located on New Zealand’s west coast, this region is a ideal for outdoor enthusiasts offering a rugged and wild coastline, rivers, native forests and mountains.

Essential Criteria

Doctor must hold FACRRM/ FDRHMNZ or FRACGP/ FRNZCGP and be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
