Emergency Department Below is details of the shift usually offered and the differences at Sale Hospital. **PLEASE NOTE: There are no Emergency Consultants (FACEMs) on staff at CGH. • Night Shift (2200-0800) o Is a PGY3+. o This doctor is the only doctor on duty in the ED and will be the first responder to all medical cases presenting during these hours. o There is a medical registrar usually in the hospital 24/7 who can be called upon for assistance or advice. o Consultant surgeons, physicians, gynaecologists & paediatricians, GPs and surgical, medical, O&G registrars and Paeds HMO on call and available for advice and to see patients where necessary. o MET & Code Blue system in place. • SMO Shifts o PGY4+ who has current experience in emergency medicine including paediatrics and supervision of junior staff o This doctor will be team leader in the ED who also sees and treats patients o Supervising interns and junior HMOs o Supported by onsite speciality teams & HMOs within the hospital and Consultants. o MET & Code Blue system in place. • Day Shifts & Afternoon Shifts o PGY3+ o Will be on shift with at least one other doctor who is at least PGY3+ o Prior experience in ED and paediatric experience o Supported by onsite speciality teams & HMOs within the hospital and Consultants. • MET & Code Blue system in place Day Shifts & Afternoon Shifts ** Note: CGH does not provide travel for junior medical staff. It does provide accommodation.
