Information for Northeast Health Anaesthetic Consultants
Northeast Health Wangaratta is a major regional health service and specialist
referral centre for Northeast Victoria. It serves a population of approximately
90,000, has approximately 700 births per year and performs over 6,500
procedures a year. Includes 122 acute beds, the hospital is serviced by resident
specialists in general medicine, paediatrics, general surgery, orthopaedics,
obstetrics and gynaecology, anaesthetics, ICU, psychiatry and emergency
medicine, and visiting specialists in ear, nose and throat surgery, urology and
paediatric surgery. The hospital has an 8 bed Critical Care Unit and four
operating theatres, 7 bed Paediatric Unit, with the ability to expand as required,
and a Level 2 neonatal nursery.
Tertiary hospital support is available in Melbourne, 2½ hours away by road, or
40 minutes by fixed-wing aircraft.

Physicians, ENT Surgeon, Dentists, Paediatric Surgeons.
