Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) encompasses the two subspecialties of Obstetrics, (including Antenatal, Delivery, Postpartum Care and potentially Neonatal Paediatrics and Medical Imaging) and Gynaecology (which may include Endocrinology and Oncology as well as Surgery). Each offers a wide range of clinical practice.
There is a steady demand for O&G doctors of all levels in locum and permanent positions in rural, regional, remote and metropolitan areas with rural and remote positions offering the opportunity to work with outreach clinics and in Indigenous communities. Consultants who can also perform high risk Obstetrics and Ultrasound are in high demand.
Skilled Medical is currently seeking qualified Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (O&G) for locum and permanent roles in rural, regional, remote and metropolitan areas of Australia and New Zealand.

Obstetrics can differ in public and private sectors. In the public system, midwives frequently manage much of the care in uncomplicated pregnancies, with Obstetrics SHO, Residents, Registrars and the Consultants becoming involved in complicated situations. In the private health sector, the Consultant oversees the patient from the Antenatal to Postnatal care, forming a continuity of care relationship.
Gynaecologists often divide their time between outpatient clinics and elective surgery lists.
