The Position

Skilled Medical has an exciting opportunity for a Neonatal Registrar (basic or advanced paediatric trainee) from July 2020 in a large tertiary and metropolitan hospital. The position is open to full time and part time applicants for one to two years (depending on training requirements).

 

Health Service

This large modern 600 bed facility is a teaching hospital with research and training links to major Australian universities offering multidisciplinary services to a catchment area of approximately 400,000 people.

Delivering approximately 3500 newborns per year this hospital is the principal referral centre for high risk pregnancies and the only tertiary care neonatal unit in the region. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Special Care Nursery has up to 800 admissions per year of which 300 require respiratory support with 15 planned intensive care beds/high dependency beds and 14 special care nursery beds.

The department is supported by 6 neonatologists, 2 neonatal advanced trainees, a SCMO, 8 neonatal registrar (paediatric basic/advanced trainees) and 3 SRMO positions. Involvement in Neonatal teaching and research is recommended and highly encouraged by the hospital's management. Neonatal Registrars will obtain wide experience in all levels of Neonatal Care in a well supported and energetic environment. Positions can be accredited for basic and advanced training with the RACP, depending on individual circumstance. There is an active teaching and research program in both Paediatrics and Neonatology.

Essential Criteria

Doctors must hold general registration with AHPRA or be eligible for provisional registration with AHPRA via the competent authority pathway.

 

The Package

Annual salary range is between 105,594.00 - 131,935.00 dependent upon level of experience.
