The Position
Skilled Medical are seeking applications from Senior Registrars in Emergency Medicine to commence a 12 month fixed term position from February 2021 in a large tertiary and metropolitan hospital, ACT. Registrars in their final 12-18 months of training are encouraged to apply.
There is a comprehensive training program which all college trainees are able to attend and specific support for exam preparation for examinations is available. There is also the opportunity to engage in research activities for both personal interest and to fulfill college requirements. Registrars are part of a 24-hour roster, covering 7 days a week. They are expected to provide direct patient care, supervise junior medical staff and to work under the supervision of consultant staff.
Development of skills in specific areas such as airway management, ultrasound, trauma, toxicology and other invasive procedures is supported and encouraged. There may also be opportunity for registrars with the requisite skills to be fractionally appointed to the Capital Region Retrieval Service (CRRS). Registrars also interested in teaching are able to be involved in the teaching of medical students for the ANU Medical School program. Senior Registrars will be given additional non-clinical time and asked to take on an administrative and formal teaching role within the department.

This large modern facility is a teaching hospital with research and training links to major Australian universities.
The Emergency Department has approximately 90, 000 presentations per year and approximately twenty percent are paediatric age group. This department provides a varied and interesting case-mix, with a high trauma load due to its role as the only trauma centre in this catchment area. Staffing consists of 33 consultants, making approximately 22 full-time equivalents including an Academic Chair in Road Trauma and Emergency Medicine. Consultants are present in the department from 8.00am to midnight seven days a week.

Essential Criteria
Doctors must hold or be eligible for full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and be an advanced trainee in Emergency Medicine, preferably in the final year of advanced training.
The Package
Annual salary is $148,346.
