The Position
Skilled Medical has an exciting career opportunity for a practicing clinician (FRACP) who has experience in service development and clinical governance to work as a Medical Director in the Mental Health and Addiction Services in the North Island of New Zealand.
This department is recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians for registrar training in inpatient, general adult community, and child and adolescent psychiatry. The successful applicant will be required to further develop the area of medical education, professional development and peer review group which is enrolled with the maintenance of professional standards programme of the RANZCP.
This hospital and mental health unit offers multidisciplinary services across all ages including:
* Child, adolescent and family mental health services
* Comprehensive community adult services
* Specialist Maori mental health services
* Specialist services for Mental Health for the elderly Specialist community alcohol and drug services including OST services
* Comprehensive 24 hour acute care services (crisis intervention service)
* Acute inpatient services (including intensive mental health care-26 beds)
* General hospital liaison psychiatry
* Early intervention services
* Intensive community rehabilitation services

This large base hospital offers a comprehensive range of specialist and medical services and provides one of the largest trauma centres in New Zealand.
The Location
With a local population of 80,000, this DHB provides services to a catchment area of approximately 160,000. It is close to the North Island ski fields and wine regions, and reasonable driving distance from Wellington.
Essential Criteria
Doctors mus hold Fellowship of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
