A North Eastern VIC hospital requires a Junior Medical Officer in Emergency Medicine
SHIFTS AVAILABLE FOR EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT FOR HMO 2+ ED & WARD COVER NIGHTS
Crisis shifts $150 / hour
SATURDAY 6th NOVEMBER 1400-2200hrs
SUNDAY 7th NOVEMBER 1400-2200hrs
MONDAY 8th NOVEMBER 0800-1600hrs
TUESDAY 9th NOVEMBER 0800-1600hrs
WEDNESDAY 10th NOVEMBER 0800-1600hrs
THURSDAY 11th NOVEMBER 0800-1600hrs
NIGHT DUTY $170/hr CRISIS RATES
FRIDAY 12th NOVEMBER 2030-0830hrs
SATURDAY 13th NOVEMBER 2030-0830hrs
SUNDAY 14th NOVEMBER 2030-0830hrs

220 acute bed, sub-acute facility (a true General Hospital with Paediatrics, O&G,
Gen Med, Ortho, Gen Surgery (e.g. the General Surgeons do burr holes), ICU (new in
2020) and Psych (on-site but officially run by Albury-Wodonga)).
Services Central Hume District – Beechworth, Yarrawonga, Benalla, Mansfield,
Myrtleford, Mt Buller, Hotham, Bright. We do Tele-health for these areas – please
familiarize yourself with instructions and resources at the telehealth desk – senior
nurses familiar with process.
There is a Medical Registrar and ICU Registrar onsite all night.
Surgical, Orthopaedic, O&G, Paediatrics and Anaesthetics Registrars on call.
VMO’s are involved with the patients. They want to know of any problems – the senior
doctor should ring them directly.
There are three night residents:
ND (1) generally a more experienced PGY3+ HMO that remains in ED, not
to cover the wards
ND (2) a PGY2 HMO that predominantly works in the ED, but may be
flexible and offer assistance to ND3 if they are busy
ND (3) primary task of ND3 is to cover the wards, this is what the position
is funded for. ND3 covers medical, surgical, rehab, psychiatry, O&G and
paediatrics – this may sound like a lot, however given that it is overnight,
the workload is variable but almost always very manageable.
NHW now has an O&G/ Paeds Registrar oncall to help out.
DISCO generally covers the non-respiratory cases in ED clinic and then
comes to assist the night staff once the clinic closes at 2130.
