The Position
Director of Medical Services for the Rural and Remote
Health Service
The Rural Health Director of Medical Services (DMS) is a member of the Rural Sectors senior leadership team, assisting in overseeing high quality, safe and effective health provision across a network of 35 rural and remote hospitals.
The Location
Location Negotiable. You will be servicing up to 35 rural and remote health services, hospitals and smaller Multipurpose Services (MPSs) across the Western NSW Local Health District for expert care.
Western NSW Local Health District is one of the largest Local Health Districts in NSW covering an area of 246,676 square kilometres, similar to the size of Britain.
We deliver innovative health services to an estimated resident population of approximately 276,000 people.
Essential Criteria
Australian citizen or permanent resident, or eligible for sponsorship to work in Australia and Registered as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia. Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), Royal Australian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) or other relevant specialty college and advantage.
Sound knowledge of contemporary health issues, rural and remote healthcare priorities and reform agendas within both general practice and the NSW Health system.
Demonstrated extensive experience of clinical leadership and management at an executive/senior level inclusive of medical administration, medical workforce, professional practice, medical ethics, clinical teaching and leadership, including managing health financial, activity and reporting systems
Demonstrated high level interpersonal communication (both verbal and written) and negotiation skills at all levels of the organisation.
Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of health system safety and quality, risk management, service design, change management, innovation and clinical best practice.
Demonstrated experience in leading complex projects relating to health provision, including supporting research, quality improvement and health system redesign.
Hold a current Driver's license and the willingness to travel regularly for work
The Package
$246,059 - $303,643 p.a. (inclusive of superannuation and allowances)
