The Position

As the Director Medical Services, Western Cluster Darling Downs you will lead a medical team to deliver quality medical services to our patients and clients within a rural health setting.

While the bulk of this role is leadership and management functions, there is a requirement for clinical services and participation in local facility on-call roster.

As a guide, the role will have 0.8 FTE medical administration and remaining 0.2FTE would be clinical. A flexible approach to this time allocation is expected.

This position reports operationally to Executive Director Rural and professionally to Executive Director Medical Services.

This position has 30 direct reports.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications:

Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the selection panel at interview.

• Fellowship of Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM), Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and /or other agreed Fellowship qualifications Registration/Membership

• Current registration with or eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).

Credentialing – Scope of Clinical Practice:  This position requires candidates to be eligible for Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) and agree to undertake to maintain currency of SoCP during the contract of employment.

On-call:  This position requires the incumbent to participate in an on-call roster. The on-call roster is produced in conjunction with the unit’s roster.

Shiftwork:  This position requires the incumbent to work all shifts on the roster. These shifts may vary in length across a 24 hour period, Monday to Sunday inclusive and may include 24 hour Shiftwork, on-call and weekend rosters.

Travel: This position requires the incumbent to travel between various facilities within the DDHHS to deliver services. Some travel may require overnight stays.

Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a 'C' class motor vehicle and to have an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle. Non Mandatory Requirements: While not mandatory, the following would be well regarded.

Highly Desirable - Fellowship of the Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA) or commitment to obtain FRACMA or associate FRACMA (aFRACMA).

Desirable - Eligibility to be an accredited registrar supervisor for Australian General Practice Trainees in the Darling Downs.

Desirable - Minimum of five years post Fellowship experience in a rural/remote location as a medical practitioner.

As per QLD Health Senior Medical Officer Award (approx $450,000+ per annum)
