Essential Criteria
The primary purpose of this position is to develop and build our Emergency Medicine skill set and capability to provide specialist emergency medicine services to patients.
The Emergency Physician is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day clinical operation of the Emergency Department delivers effective and safe high-quality patient care and to assist with change management within the Emergency Department to achieve ongoing improvement and delivery of safe, consistent, responsive and high quality services.
The Emergency Physician will participate in the education of medical, nursing and allied health students and to supervise medical staff in Emergency Medicine.
Our Emergency Department is seeing an increasing number of presentations, with an average of 80-110 per day (26,000 presentations per year). There is a wide variety of presentations including trauma and resuscitation to less urgent presentations. Approximately 25% of our presentations are paediatrics.
The Emergency Department interfaces with Internal Medicine, Critical Care Unit (including ICU, HDU and CCU beds), General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Anaesthesia, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Geriatrics/Rehabilitation, Medical Oncology, and Mental Health services.
The service contributes to undergraduate and post-graduate medical education and to nursing and allied health education. There is a particular responsibility to provide a supportive and stimulating educational experience for medical students and early postgraduate medical and nursing graduates.
The organisational structure encompasses a CDES, FACEM –Emergency Physician, Emergency Senior Doctor in Charge, Junior Medical staff and Interns. The successful applicant will enjoy the benefits of competitive remuneration and full salary packaging benefits.

This permanent position is suitable for qualified UK & IE Doctors, subject to meeting professional registration and work visa requirements.
To work in Australia you will need to be registered as a Medical Professional with the Australian Medical Board/AHPRA.
The AHPRA registration requirements for this position are:
Candidates must hold UK Medical graduate (primary) qualifications or PLAB certification to obtain AHPRA Medical Board of Australia registration.
