Position Title: Career Medical Officer (Psychiatry)

Location: Elphinstone Road - North Hobart

Work pattern: Full-time shift work working Sunday to Saturday 08:30am to 20:30pm.
Shift days and hours are as per below as this is a shared roster, working five
(5) days on four (4) days off. On-call May be required
Supervision/Support: Clinical Director and Team Leader

Rate: $150.00 per hour Monday to Friday and $187.50 per hour Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holidays.

State-wide Mental Health Services is a leader and innovator for a unique corner of the health care industry.
We provide a comprehensive suite of services across the areas of mental health, alcohol and drugs, forensic
mental health and correctional primary health.

The Statewide Mental Health Service reforms are also providing expanding opportunities in services such as
the Acute Care Team, Police, Ambulance, and Clinician Early Response (PACER) and Hospital in the Home
Teams. In partnership with the University of Tasmania the Service has also recently established the
Tasmanian Centre for Mental Health Service Innovation which is dedicated to helping enhance and improve
mental health service offerings for children, young people, and adults across Tasmania. The Centre is being
co-directed by Professor David Castle and Professor Brett McDermott and its activities will focus on
workforce development, training and education, research and development, and policy and advocacy.

The Peacock Centre is a newly re-built facility that houses a 12-bed short stay unit providing specialist
assessment and treatment in a homelike environment for people who do not require admission to hospital.
The Centre provides contemporary, recovery focused and compassionate care and is an integration hub
where people can be linked with a range of community service providers. The CMO will cover the Peacock
House Acute Treatment Unit, Safe Haven to help with Suicide Crisis and Situational Stress also support
community based Acute Care Stream working seven (7) days a week.
Note: There is the option to work additional on-call shifts at the Mental Health Inpatient Unit, Royal Hobart
Hospital, during this time if the locum chooses to.

Note: Evidence of current Medical Indemnity (for public and private patients) must be provided prior to
commencement. Evidence of a satisfactory National Criminal History Check not older than 12 months must be
provided, along with current AHPRA Registration, Medicare Provider Number, Photo Identification, Immigration/Visa
requirements (if applicable), Approved Medical Practitioner approval and all other requested documentation.
Flights, Accommodation and Rental Car to be arranged by locum provider with approval for costs to be obtained from
Statewide Mental Health Services prior to confirmation of bookings.
