The Position
Skilled Medical currently has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Specialist/SMO Psychiatrist to commence a permanent position in an Outback QLD hospital commencing 2024.
The role is a challenging, interesting and diverse one; with provision of specialist psychiatric knowledge and skills to facilitate the delivery of quality mental health care to patients of the integrated Mental Health and ATODS and the Homeless Health Outreach Team.
The health service has a number of critical industrial facilities in the region and a patient cohort that represents some of the challenges and a mix of diversities that clinicians may not have encountered in previous roles.
This will be a fast-paced, complex and active role where you can make a difference every day; applying your advanced skills across a broad range of Psychiatry and working in relative isolation.
Health Service
This Level 4 regional hospital has 80-beds and is a major referral center for the region. The town has a rural Flying Doctor Service base providing rural retrievals and there is a significant indigenous population. Recently undergoing a major redevelopment including a new Emergency Department/A&E, this facility offers a diverse range of services including A & E, Aged Care, Anaesthetics, Community Health, Day Surgery, Dental, Dietetics, Family Planning, General Medicine, General Surgery, Intensive Care, Maternity, Medical Imaging and Mental Health.
The Location
This rural Queensland location offers excellent schools, day care centres and sports clubs. The region's restaurants and clubs also offer good range of food and drink, leisure and social activities. From camping to canoeing and 4 x 4 excursions, this rural location offers diverse outdoor activities and places to explore on your weekends.
The Package
Permanent full-time role with remuneration package up to $600K AUD
- Base salary up to $600K (AUD) - dependent upon experience and advanced qualifications
- Attraction and retention incentive allowance of 35%-50% base annual salary
- Regional and rural attraction allowance of 15% base annual salary
- Inaccessibility allowance of $34,500 p.a.
- Motor vehicle allowance
- 5 weeks Annual Recreational Leave accumulation with 17.5% loading when taken
- Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75%
- Professional development allowance and leave of 3.6 weeks p.a.
- Visa sponsorship & Relocation funding
Plus client can offer: Rent FREE accommodation (up to 17 months) and salary packaging options.
Eligible health workers who move to Queensland from interstate or international jurisdictions to take up permanent employment may receive up to $70,000 in incentive payments under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme.
This permanent position is suitable for a qualified overseas candidate, subject to meeting professional registration and work visa requirements.
Essential Criteria
- FRANZCP, FACRRM or FRACGP + FARGP. MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Preferred - eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Psychiatry with AHPRA.
- Completion of training for the Mental Health Act 2016 - Authorised Doctor/Authorised Psychiatrist prior to commencement.
- Experience in Addictions psychiatry highly desirable.
