The Position
We are currently looking for multiple full time Emergency Medicine Senior Resident Medical Officers (SRMO) to join the dynamic team at Canberra Hospital for a 12-month contract with possible extension.
As part of a large medical team within the Emergency Department (ED), you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to patients in the Australian Capital Territory and surrounding regions. You will be joining a large medical team of 40 FACEMs, a postgraduate fellow, 3 Senior Registrars, 30 registrars, and multiple other junior medical staff. As a member of Canberra’s emergency team you will be supporting a newly expanded physical space consisting of a 5-bed resuscitation area, 30 acute beds, 16 short stay beds, fast track stream with a sub-wait and 14 treatment spaces and a dedicated paediatric area with 6 beds and 2 consult rooms.
You will be:
• Responsible for immediate patient care including adequate history taking, physical examination, ongoing continuous review of patient condition and progress, investigations and therapy indicated by unit protocol or as directed by the duty specialist. Determine and facilitate disposition of patient, with guidance from senior clinicians.
• Performing specialised procedures on the direction and under supervision of the duty specialist.
• Participating in rostered education sessions and prepare material for clinical presentations and mortality/morbidity reviews as directed.
• Participating in rostered duties as allocated (24/7).
• Complying with the policies and requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and policies of the CHS. This includes the promotion and application of workplace relations, workplace equity and diversity and workplace safety.
• Undertaking other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Essential Criteria
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Current competency in Advanced Life Support.
• Demonstrated clinical competence at postgraduate year 3 level with at least two completed postgraduate years of training.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Adaptability and flexibility to accommodate change in an emergency environment.
• Proficient computer literacy skills.
