The Position
We are currently looking for a Staff Specialist who will hold a permanent substantive position with Mental Health and Specialist Services (MHSS) and will act as Medical Director of either the Continuing Care Community (CCC) or Acute Community and Registrar Workforce (ACRW) unit for the first 3 years located on the south east coast of QLD, in a metropolitan region 80km south of Brisbane.
The Senior Staff Specialist/Staff Specialist role provides clinical specialist psychiatry support to the Mental Health and Specialist Service, making a substantial contribution to the development of a culture of medical education and safe, effective patient centered clinical practice.
The Medical Director will manage either the CCC or ACRW service line which provides clinical care to patients and clinically manages on a day-to-day basis the associated multidisciplinary patient care team to ensure the delivery of appropriate patient care. In addition, the role provides professional leadership to the department and training, education and supervision to junior medical staff and other health care members.
Health Service
he Mental Health Service provides assessment, treatment and support to people who have a mental illness. Services are provided depending on individual need and ranges from inpatient treatment to support in the community.

Essential Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FRANZCP or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and registrable as a Psychiatry specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Internationally trained candidates may require an acceptable Comparability Assessment undertaken by the appropriate Australian Specialist Medical College as part of the application process.
The Package
- Permanent full time position
- Estimated total remuneration up to $498,017 p.a. comprising: Senior Staff Specialist: Base salary from $251,527 - $266,677 p.a Staff Specialist: Base salary from $210,332 - $244,313 p.a
