Our CCU has an open model of care. We have a team of credentialled Specialist Physicians, Interventional Cardiologists and Specialist Anaesthetists that admit and manage the direct care of patients in the unit. If a patient deteriorates in the unit or the wider organisation, the CCU MO and the MET team is to liaise with the admitting physicians to arrange for the safe transfer to CCU or a tertiary facility for higher cares as required.
After hours, the CCU MO operates as the sole medical officer within the facility. You may be required to review patients overnight that are scoring on their Q-ADDs. You may be required to admit a late presentation (this request must come from the admitting physician and medical-medical handover is to take place). The CCU MO acts as a key role in the MET team overnight, with the support and assistance of the CCU TL, Hospital Coordinator and ward staff.
