They also need to comfortable with being the only doctor for the hospital on duty from about 8.30pm to 7am. They will also require a Medicare provider number.

The Critical Care Unit comprises of nine beds, with a mix of Coronary Care, High Dependency and Intensive Care patients. The majority of our work is primarily cardiac based, having the only Cardiac Investigations Unit in Bundaberg. We offer the community a Level 5 Cardiac Service and a Level 4 Intensive Care service.
Our CCU has an open model of care. We have a team of credentialled Specialist Physicians, Interventional Cardiologists and Specialist Anaesthetists that admit and manage the direct care of patients in the unit. They are responsible for the overseeing all patient management and responding to any clinical concerns. If a patient deteriorates in the unit or the wider organisation, the CCU MO and the MET team is to liaise with the admitting physicians to arrange for the safe transfer to CCU or a tertiary facility for higher cares as required.

After hours, the CCU MO operates as the sole medical officer within the facility. You may be required to review patients overnight that are scoring on their Q-ADDs. You may be required to admit a late presentation (this request must come from the admitting physician and medical-medical handover is to take place). The CCU MO acts as a key role in the MET team overnight, with the support and assistance of the CCU TL, Hospital Coordinator and ward staff.
