The Position
An exciting opportunity exists for a permanent full-time Director of Medical Services to lead a facility in Northern Queensland. You will be delivering quality care to patients and be actively involved in leadership, supervision and training of junior doctors and students, adding value to the health service through continual development of clinical knowledge and skills.
Health Service
You will be working with the primary provider of health services to residents of the Cairns, Tablelands and Cassowary Coast regions with a population of over 250,000 people, as well as providing specialist services to the Torres Strait and Cape York region. Cairns Hospital is the primary referral hospital for Far North Queensland. They provide an extensive range of health services at more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometers. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high-level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane.

Essential Criteria

Registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice (FARGP)

Certification of at least one advanced rural skill – Obstetrics, Anaesthetics or Emergency, as well as an Associate Fellowship with RACMA (AFRACMA) or any other management qualification will be highly desirable
The Package
- Remuneration value up to $504,728 p.a. (L13-L27) comprised of;
- Salary $204 206 - $258 910
- Employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%),
- Annual leave loading (17.5%),
- Professional development allowance,
- Motor vehicle allowance,
- Clinical managers allowance,
- Professional development leave 3.6 weeks p.a.
- Private practice arrangements.
