The Position
We are currently on the lookout for experienced Senior Medical Officers to join the team and help meet the expanding emergency needs of this South Western Australian hospital. We are on the look-out to fill Permanent (Full-Time, Part-Time or Sessional) and/or Fixed Term (Full-Time, Part-Time or Sessional) appointments.
This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and qualifications in a large regional emergency department. Including support to complete a Certificate and/or Diploma in Emergency Medicine – strengthening your ability to deliver emergency care!
You will be supported in developing advanced skills in surgery and/or anaesthetics with a newly established theatre complex and experienced generalist practitioner's.
The role will involve:
- Attending to patients in the Emergency Department in Collie, with an opportunity to expand your work to nearby hospitals, with the support of Telehealth Service
- Assist hospital staff and local general practitioners in providing after-hours and emergency responses to inpatients.
- Develop advanced skill sets in Anaesthetics, Surgery and/or Emergency Medicine
- Mentor the next generation of rural medical practitioners with an opportunity to teach and supervise students in their medical career.
Health Service
This health service provides a 20-bed inpatient facility with 24/7 recently upgraded emergency department and an impressive and brand-new theatre complex. Medical staffing includes a strong mix of long-term procedural GP's and visiting medical staff from the region.

Essential Criteria
- Eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia.
- Specialist registration and holds either Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and/or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
- Substantial experience working in emergency medicine.
- Relevant skills and experience to work in rural and remote WA as an independent senior practitioner.
The Package
- Competitive salary package up to $360k+ inclusive of employer superannuation contributions and on-call/recall rates.
- Remuneration includes a base salary of $277,973 - $297,598, 11.5% employer contributed superannuation, professional development allowance $31,926
- Sessional Rate: MP 662.38 - 704.33 per session* (Renumeration includes a base sessional rate of $532.86 - $570.48, 11.5% employer contributed superannuation, professional development allowance of $61.20 per session).
