The Position
We are currently on the look out for non-interventional Cardiologist for a Staff Specialist/Senior Staff Specialist position on the Queensland coast.
These are permanent full-time positions, however arrangements can be made for part-time positions.
You will be assisting the Clinical Director in the following:
• Provision of high-quality clinical services as part of the Unit/Department.
• Education of Medical Staff and Students, Allied Health, interested Community Groups and Nursing Staff.
• Active participation in patient safety, audit, research and service planning activities.
• Professional responsibility for Junior and Senior Medical Officers
Health Service
Cardiac Services are currently staffed with FTE 5.0 Cardiologists (4 x Interventional & 1 x Non-Interventional), 6 Principal House Officers/Registrars (including 2 x Advanced Trainee's), 4 Junior /Senior House Officers and 3 interns and provides cardiology services to a local population of 180,000. The department is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for cardiology advanced training status. A wide range of cardiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are provided including Echo, TOE with 3D capacity, stress echo, Dobutamine, CTCA, Cardiac MRI, coronary intervention and pacing device implantation.

Mackay is a vibrant regional centre in tropical North Queensland, servicing a population of over 180,000. The Mackay Isaac Whitsunday Region has a thriving economy that includes a diverse range of tourism, agriculture, industry, mining, education and health industries.
Essential Criteria
• Mandatory possession of a qualification from a recognised tertiary institution and experience appropriate for current registration as a Specialist in Cardiology with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP).
• Fellowship in Echocardiography highly desirable.
The Package
Total remuneration value of up to $514,452 (L27) is comprised of: A salary between $244,201 - $258,910 (L25-L27)
Total remuneration value of up to $470,780 (L24) is comprised of: A salary between $204,206 - $237,196 (L18-L24)
- Professional Development Leave 3.6 weeks p.a.
- Over-time, on-call and recall allowance Paid per occurrence
- Annual Leave 5 weeks p.a. (required to work on public holidays) 17.5% annual leave loading is paid for 4 weeks leave.
- Attraction and Retention, Rural and Regional Allowances
- Salary Sacrificing $17,000 grossed up taxable value – independent financial advice is recommended**
- Superannuation Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
