The Position
The PHO is an essential member of a multidisciplinary team providing high quality primary and secondary medical care to individual patients as well as population health service to the local community.
The role includes ensuring patient safety and continual development of your clinical knowledge and skills.
This would be a 12-month position starting in January 2025.
This position can be offered full time or at 0.5FTE
Clinical Responsibilities within the scope of practice of a Principal House Officer:
- Provide a high-quality medical service based on the principles of evidence-based medicine and best practice. Manage patients to ensure that problems are fully assessed and identified; and develop comprehensive clinical care and management plans.
- Appropriate selection and arrangement of investigations.
- Assemble clinical information and the results of investigations to diagnose clinical conditions.
- Maintain appropriate comprehensive and concise clinical documentation including observations, opinions, diagnoses, other data and procedures undertaken.
- Maintain appropriate summary documentation, particularly when the patient is transferred, including discharge summaries and letters.
- Other clinical duties as required.
Health Service
Bayside Health Services offers this unique opportunity for Principal House Officers (PHOs) to experience working across each of three community-based healthcare centres at the new Redland Bay Satellite Hospital, as well as Wynnum Primary Care Centre, and Marie Rose Centre, Dunwich, Stradbroke Island.
The Location
Refers to a network of healthcare services that cater to the Brisbane Bayside region, which includes suburbs such as Wynnum, Manly, and surrounding areas. It provides a variety of health services, focusing on aged care, home care, and community health. These services are available across multiple locations, with particular focus on providing accessible healthcare to people living in coastal communities such as Wynnum and the nearby areas, extending to the communities on North Stradbroke Island (Dunwich).
Essential Criteria
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and general registration (or eligibility for general registration) with the Medical Board of Australia.
The Package
- Salary Level will be L4 to L9 $129,583 to $150,240 depending upon level of experience. This is base rate not including any weekend/night penalties/ re-calls etc
- Accommodation and a car are provided whilst doctors are working at North Stradbroke Island.
- Competitive salary packages and incentives including: up to 12.75% superannuation 17.5% annual leave loading allowances for eligible staff.
