A Statewide VIC hospital requires a Senior Medical Officer in General Practice
Our client is looking for GPs for their Correctional Facilities across Victoria
Desired skill sets include GP, ED and Psych experience
Shifts are 0900-1700 or 0800-1600
Weekend work available if desired which incurs a $30 / hour loading

Criteria for ideal locum candidates:
• Very dynamic environments
• The doctor must be flexible, eager to learn and open to working in a team environment in a prison setting.
• The doctor must be experienced and skilled in managing medical emergencies, chronic health issues and making appropriate specialist referrals.
• Minimum 5/7 years Hospital or community GP experience in Australia or comparable eg NZ or UK
• IF IMG-completion of AMC CAT-MCQ exam
• Fluent in English
• Skill set to include BLS-Suturing-POPs and POP slabs
• Working knowledge Mental Health, Diabetes, Soft tissue injuries, Pharmacology along with alcohol & drug assessment and treatments.
• Being able to work within a restrictive environment and work withing the GEO Healthcare medication formulary framework.
• Ability to meet deadlines to ensure prescriptions are completed 2 weeks before their end date.
• Familiarity with the prescribing of OSTP/MATOD
• Sound collaborative and communication skills.
• Nurse-led clinic.
• Ability to say no / set boundaries with patients.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies as software used to input their data/ notes can be quite complex
• Large volumes of patients to see each day, the ideal locum would be efficient in their assessments in this fast pace environment.
